BC Triumph Lyubertsy rallied from down 18 points in the first half to edge Hemofarm Stada 83-82 in dramatic fashion at the finish at home in Moscow, Russia on Tuesday. With the huge win in front of its home fans, Triumph stays perfect at 2-0 atop Group B while Hemofarm has yet to get in the win column. Sergeev was especially key with his defense, including a pair of steals in the final minute that denied Hemofarm a change to launch go-ahead shot attempts. Jarod Stevenson paced Hemofarm with 19 points. Rasko Katic added 17 more, all but 2 of them in the first half. Goran Jagodnik and Stefan Markovic scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, in the losing effort.
BC Triumph Head Coach Stanislav Eremin: "Today's game showed that Hemofarm is a very strong team, and Hemofarm played in the Eurocup semifinal last season. We started very bad, and most of Hemofarm attacks were successful. We played very bad defense in the first quarter, tried to play in some kind of classical basketball that isn't typical for us. But later we added some emotion in the game, put three small guards on the court and it let us play sharper and more clever, changed the offense layout, played inside and with pick-and-roll. Yes, we were luckier ain the end, but only the strongest is luckier. I want to thank our fans for the support, they helped us win tonight!"
